Wonderful gifts!

Christmas is such a big and long celebration for Filipinos. You can hear Christmas songs as early as September and you can see Christmas lights and trees up as early as November. All proofs that Filipinos love festivities and signs that we are really looking forward to Christmas.

I received a very special early Christmas gift. Last November 21st, Lerma (my wife) gave birth to our second daughter. We named her Ruth Allison. It was an answered prayer that she had a normal and healthy birth. No complications whatsoever. Ruth Allison is a healthy and cute baby girl. We are full of joy when we see her. She looks so much like our first daughter, Micah. We are happy that God gave us another very wonderful daughter.

We also consider Micah’s 2nd birthday last December 5th as a very special early Christmas gift. She is growing so fast and is a very wonderful girl. All of the people who see her quickly agree that she is a jolly and lovable little girl. She loves to dance and that brings joy to people who see her dancing. Time flies so fast that we didn’t know where the two years had gone. Seeing Micah growing is a gift to us and we enjoyed every single day of those two years of her life. We are excited to see what she will become in the following years.

As for Youth Mobilization in partnership with Extreme Response, we are happy to see the team coming from SacramentoCalifornia, helping us in bringing the good news of Christmas to 1,500 kids amongst our partner churches. We are giving away gifts, playing games, showing magic tricks and presenting a Christmas skit to urban and rural poor kids. To see them with their big smiles as they enjoy their time playing and receiving gifts, I consider this a very special early Christmas gift. Every year, we are fulfilled by witnessing kids participating in our Christmas parties. They bring so much joy to us. Christmas is a very happy season in the Philippines.

As I am thinking about what to preach on at our church about Christmas, I remembered the passage mentioned in Matthew. It mentioned there that people will come to call Him Emmanuel which means, “God with us”. I am so overwhelmed by how God, who created the heavens and the earth, an unfathomable, all-knowing, wonderful and indescribable God, chose to be with us. Like in the book of Job 11:7-9, it says there, “who can fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?”. And like what we read in Psalm 8:4, “who is man that you are mindful of him?”. And to know that God chose to be with us, is a mind-blowing grace.

We are full of joy because we have received many special early Christmas gifts. We are excited for what God will bring on the coming year for my personal life and for the ministry.

PERSONAL

Praise Items

1. Praise God for giving us a new baby girl. Ruth Allison is a healthy baby. She is a cute and wonderful gift from God. We are happy to have and to hold her.

2. Praise God for another year the Lord brought to our daughter Micah. We celebrated her birthday with her cousins. She enjoyed her day. She is growing fast and we enjoy every moment of it.

3. Praise God for Lerma’s strength. She recovered fast from giving birth to our daughter.

4. Praise God for the provision of a laptop I could use. The team from Sacramento brought two laptops with them. One for my co-worker and the other one is for me. I am using it now while typing this Prayer Letter.

Prayer Requests:

1. Continue to pray for the provision of rent for a house. We still feel like God is leading us to a new house. Since the place where we are staying has health issues because of cases of Dengue Fever, Lerma and I want to move to a new house. And the fact that our family is growing, it is timely for us to find a new house that suits our growing family.

2. Pray for our personal support. We are still personally raising 50 percent of our budget. The family is growing and our needs are growing as well. Please pray that God will bring more donors to support us financially.

3. Pray for our health. Ruth Allison will have a series of vaccinations. Please pray that these vaccinations will be available for her in our local clinic. Micah is adjusting from being breast-feeding to bottle feeding, please pray that she will adjust easily. Lerma and I have sleepless nights because of Ruth Allison. Please pray that God will give us strength to help us cope with our work.

MINISTRY:

Praise God for…

1. Bringing the team from Sacramento, California here to the Philippines safe and sound.  They are a blessing for our team and community. And praise God for blessing 1,500 kids who will receive gifts in our Christmas parties.

2. Providing all the needs for the Christmas parties for our partner churches. This will certainly strengthen the partnership of Youth Mobilization with our partner churches.

3. God’s faithfulness to the Youth Mobilization throughout the year. We have seen His’ direction, grace and provision. Even in every member’s lives in the Youth Mobilization team, we have witnessed His’ faithfulness.

Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for God’s leading and direction for the Youth Mobilization team, IT Tender Ministry and Jesus King of Kings Community Church. We are excited abour what God will bring next year to our teams. Please pray for us to have unity in our diversity.

2. Pray for provision for our rent for the YM office, Daycare Center, Student Center and for the church. We are raising funds for us to be able to rent a building that is near the community. Please pray that God will lead us regarding where and to provide for the provisions we need for the place.

3. Pray for provision for our YM team members and church staff. Most of them are receiving less than what they need. Please pray that God will increase the harvest for us to be able to cope up with the budget we need.

4. Pray for the approval of the Project Proposal we will pass to Extreme Response. ER is coming alongside with YM to empower churches. We have a series of meetings that give us a clear direction of the project we can do next year. Please pray that the ER board of directors will approve our Project Proposal.

Get up and eat (for the journey is too great for you)

Youth Mobilization in partnership with Extreme Response gathered again the partner churches of Youth Mobilization and ministries of IT tender for the third time for the Leader Mundial Manila Summit 2012 last October 17-20. The theme for this summit was called Renewing Your Passion.

There were four sessions that deal with calling, vision and passion led by very inspiring people. I was so encouraged, strengthened and empowered. All of these sessions renewed my passion in serving our Lord. It was fantastic. The pastors also admitted that they were empowered. I could feel it everytime we had our open discussions and sharing time.

The two most inspired moments for me at this summit were our alone time with the Lord and the Worship Night. Summit gave us two hours of alone time with the Lord. This was provided for us to have an intimate time with Him, praying and meditating, alone with God. It was very personal for me. I took advantage of this time to seek God’s will for me in terms of leading my family, the Youth Mobilization team, and pastoring the church. I dealt with the Lord regarding one certain thing. It has something to do with the leadership of Youth Mobilization. I always thought that I am young in leading such a huge ministry of empowering churches. This task is huge and I am overwhelmed by it. I told God that I am no better than my father ("father" referring to the former leader of YM who is Pastor Joshua). For in six years of YM, Pastor Joshua led it to the peak of it’s height. I never thought I would be able to bring it to a higher level. That is what I am dealing with God in my alone time with Him. In that alone time, God gave me peace that He will be with me through this journey of empowering churches. I know in my heart that the peace I am experiencing is enough for me to go on, to continue on the legacy of YM. Then in Worship Time, we had the privileged of hearing from a pastor from Ecuador. His name is Jean David and he speaks Spanish, which is why Russ Cline from ER translated the message in English so we could be able to understand. The Lord used the message in our Worship Night to speak further and to encourage me more, and it was absolutely inspiring. He used the story of Elijah. After a powerful miracle Elijah experienced upon calling a fire to burn the offering he made and to show people that the God he is serving is the true God, he had this moment from a peak to a very low moment of his life. When he heard the message from Jezebel, he hid himself and he told God, “I am no better than my father”. This is the exact phrase I told God in my alone time with Him. I know in my heart that God is personally talking to me through this message. He is assuring me with this message that He cares about what I am experiencing and it is completely fine to be vulnerable with God. Just like Elijah when he was ready to give up his calling from God, ready to throw in the towel and tell God to take his life. I read this story many times but the message I was hearing this time was phenomenal and very personal. And just like the story of Elijah, God encouraged me to get up and eat for the journey is still long. I consider this message as an embrace of the Lord, a tap on my back and food for my soul for surely the journey is still long. The message that night was concluded in praying for one another. And a pastor came to me and prayed for me. I never told him what I was experiencing but he prayed all the things that I am dealing with the Lord. I know that God put words in his heart and that made him pray for me exactly what I needed to pray. It was amazing, truly it is the hands of God moving in our midst. Right then and there, my passion was renewed. The Word of God at that time embraced me, fed me, and it was enough for me to keep on continuing what God called me to do, to empower churches. I know the journey is still long, there are still many churches waiting to be empowered and I still want to be part of it.

I also know that it is not only my passion that was renewed, but also the passion of many pastors that were there was renewed. Russ gave a final message on our last day of the summit that we are not alone, but we have a community of pastors and leaders that aim to bring change in the lives of many people in our community. And Pastor Joshua exhorted us to continue to be connected with one another and to take advantage of the community that we have by helping one another, praying and encouraging one another.

I am so blessed, inspired and empowered by this summit. I am grateful to have this time of renewing the passion, keeping the vision and pressing on with the calling I have in our Lord. Thank God for this wonderful community!

Sent from India….

A friend of my bestfriend John Coffey came here to the Philippines from India just for a visit. I never knew him before he came. I randomly received a message from John three days before he arrived that John wants us to meet his friend visiting from India. I met him in a mall with John for dinner the night he came. And from his story and the way he talked, I knew he is a great friend to have.

One night when he was still here in the Philippines, I invited John and him to have dinner in my house so he could meet my wife and my daughter. My wife cooked a Filipino dish called “adobo”. He liked the food and we had a good chat while eating.

After we ate, an answer to my prayer arrived. I was praying before for the addition of financial support to come. Knowing that my family is getting bigger and our expenses today are getting larger, we need to raise more financial support to cover our expenses. He talked to me and expressed his desire to help us though financial giving. This came as a surprise because I never mentioned to him that I was in need of support. It was great news for me.

I know God orchestrates things in His own way and in His own time. God never fails to meet our needs. I am a witness of His faithfulness. I am praising God because of who He is in my life.

There is a saying when blessings come our way, we say, sent from heaven. From what happened to me a few weeks ago, I could say, it was sent from India.

Bible Study in Our Community

We opened our house for a weekly small group bible study in our community of Bangkal. We started it a month ago. We had around 10 people in our first meeting. A co-worker in the church and I are leading it. We decided to have a small group bible study because we desire to disciple the people from our community who are attending our church.

As God gave me the desire to reach out to the families of my brothers and sisters, this bible study is one of the steps I want to do. I want to share with them how God changed my life and somehow share the blessings I have in Christ Jesus. I saw their lives and I am seeing the need of taking steps to building a strong relationship with them, winning them in Christ and helping them however I can.

From the time I moved into the community where my brothers and sisters live, I see how they look at my lifestyle. I was able to connect to my brothers and sisters in a better way. I even gained respect from my nephews and nieces which is very nice. I know I still have more to do in helping them to develop our community. One of my desires is to help them renovate their houses to have a safe home for their children and so they could realize that my desire is for great changes in their lives. I am still praying for wisdom on how I would be able to collect funds for renovating the houses of my brothers and sisters. I can only do the thing I could do. And right now, it is though the bible study.

My confidence is in my relationship with the Lord.

This was my devotion today. It was very timely and very encouraging.

I totally agree that whatever God ask me to do, He is faithful enough to provide the ability, the way and strength for me to do it because I know God is with me so there is nothing to fear.

My strength and ability comes from God. He is the one who provide for everything I need. I built my confidence in Him.

I thought this might encourage you the way it encouraged me.

_______________________________________

COMPETENCE FROM GOD.
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.

2 Corinthians 3:5
Do you sometimes lack the confidence that you can carry out what God is asking you to do? Do you look at yourself and conclude: I’m not a gifted person or a Bible scholar. I don’t have what it takes to do anything significant for God? If you think this way, you are missing the point. You see, the ability to make a difference in God’s kingdom never comes from us. It always comes from God.

Take Paul’s life an example. You might wonder how one man could have accomplished all that he did. How did he start new churches in so many places when he was up against such fierce opposition? How did he perform all those miracles? How did he find the strength to keep going in spite of beatings, shipwrecks, imprisonment, and constant danger? The answer, of course, is that his ability came from God. It wasn’t Paul was a supernatural being. His strength was not in himself, but in his relationship with the Lord.

Likewise, God will never ask you to do something difficult and then leave you to do it on your own. The reason you can have total confidence is that, no matter what Christ tells you to do, he will provide you with ability to accomplish it. Is God leading you into a new area of ministry? Accept his assignment with boldness for he will enable you to do whatever he asks.

MINISTRY OF GIVING.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. – 1 Corinthians 9:8

It was very obvious to Paul that he was a hardworking servant of the Lord. He was a tentmaker, working so hard for him not to be a burden to anyone. He always mentioned in his writing that he worked/toiled hard day and night for him not to be a burden to anyone. Besides being a tentmaker, he is known well in bringing the good news to every people. He wrote many books in the new testament, whether for churches or as personal letters, his writings and letters are really inspiring to read and give sound doctrine and great instruction on building Christian character and church leadership.

That is why I highly respect how he boldly teaches about giving. In the way I read and understand his letter to the Corinthians, he commended the generosity of the people in the Corinthian church. Knowing Paul worked hard to not be a burden to anyone, he has this kind of strong conviction commending people’s generosity and urging people to keep on giving generously. This idea blew my mind. At first glance, I sense some irony - if he doesn’t want to be a burden, how come he asks for a collection of giving for his ministry? I am sure you will agree with me that this idea is ironic.

But as I was digging deep into the word and starting to read between the lines, I understood what he is trying to prove with his letter to the Corinthian churches. He is explaining the ministry of giving. Yup! Giving to the work of the Lord is a ministry that we shouldn’t take less serious compared to serving the Lord with our talents and callings. The ministry of giving is equal to the works of pastors and missionaries, leading the prayer and intercessory ministry, teaching kids in Sunday school, taking care of the finances of the church, and any other ministry work in the churches.

Giving to the work of the Lord is like investing in eternity. It is planting the seeds in the field of the harvest for the Kingdom of God. And in time, we will reap what we sow in the field. God blesses the work of our hands because God found us faithfully sowing the seeds. Not only do we faithfully sow the seeds, we generously sow the seeds, for when the time for us to harvest the seeds comes, we will reap bountifully.

Paul said in his writing to the Corinthian people, “God is able to make all grace abound to you”. Isn’t that a great thing to hear that? You will surely jump when you hear someone say that to you. God who made the heavens and the earth, rich in every way, is able to make all grace abound to you. That sounds to me like immeasurable blessings are on my way. Next, he said, “in all things and in all times” that means wholly, fully and timeless. Next is, “having all that you need”, which means to me that what I have right now God is able to multiply so that it will cover all I need. And the last line goes, “you will abound in every good work”. This mean to me that what God blesses my hands to have is for me to be able to do good work.

If I would summarize that in one idea, it would mean to me that God is able to bless the work of my hands. This could be my means of earning, whatever it will be, or this could be my works in the office, my business and any other things that God allows me to earn - the things God blesses for me to abound, in all things at all times. These blessings will abound so that I could do good work. Good work like giving, investing into eternity, giving to church ministries, supporting someone that’s doing the work of the Lord. This is just like the Corinthian people supporting the work of the Lord through Paul’s ministry.

As for me, I am doing the work of the Lord full-time. I have faith in the Lord that He is able to provide for the needs of our family. I am thankful that God brought you into my life and ministry, and I am grateful for your generous support both prayerfully and through your finances. I am keeping you in my prayers, like Paul, as I am praying that God will continue to bless the works of your hands. May God bless your business, your work in the office, and every way that God allows you to earn your living. I am praying that God blesses you tremendously. As I read and study how Paul talked to the Corinthian people, I remember how you are faithfully supporting me. I am so overwhelmed that I have you in my life. Your support is like seeds that have been planted in the field of God’s harvest. You are investing into eternity to the works of the Lord through my life. I am sure, we will harvest bountifully.

On this note, I want to thank every one of you who is faithfully and generously supporting me. I am thankful to the Lord for your life, love and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. I want to encourage every one of you to keep on working for our Lord, even in our work place, businesses, and ministries. Having faith in our hearts, let us continue moving forward for the glory of our God. In the end, as we keep our faith in Him, He is faithful to reward our good works for Him and in Him.

Many challenges will arise, conflicts will arise and trails are everywhere but let us continue to hold onto Jesus. He is faithful and rich in love and grace. Again, He is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Two Important Things!

1. Lerma is pregnant again with our second baby. She is now four months pregnant and her due date will be in the third week of November. I am so excited that I am going to be a daddy again. Micah is so cute and we know the next one will also be as cute as her. We pray that the baby will be healthy and have no complications in Lerma’s pregnancy. Also we hope this time it will be a boy. Please keep us in your prayers for Lerma and for our second baby! 2. There is a great privilege coming up for us to bless communities in Indonesia this October. The Youth Mobilization partners with an Indonesian missionary whom we work with International Teams to bless communities in Indonesia. We will bring youth to connect with Muslim youth and children through a hygiene clinic and sports games. I am excited because this will be my first time to go to a Muslim country. Also, I am excited to bring youth with us. These are youth from different churches who attended our youth missions conference last year. We know that this trip will impact the lives of youth and children and their families for them to be connected to the ministry we have there. Each of us needs to raise about US$500 for our airfare, food and accommodations. This is a great way to invest to the lives of the people in the community in Indonesia. I want to extend this privilege to you and hope you could partner with me in prayers and though financial giving. For supporting me though prayers, I would love to send you updates regarding this mission trip, just let me know if you are interested to receive updates. And for supporting me though financial giving, you can send an email impressing your desire to invest to the lives of people in Indonesia. Any amount you can extend to me will be highly appreciated. For more details regarding how you will be able to help this missions trip, you can either send an email to me: mackie_youthmob@hotmail.com and I will get back to you at the very soonest.

Bonding with my daughter Micah

Micah is growing so fast and I am enjoying every moment of it. Micah is now a year and a half. She likes to climb everything in our house - chairs, tables, stairs and even our TV rack and closet. At times she is way crazier than my wife Lerma could manage. That is why we decided to bring her to a kids’ play place. A safe place for her to climb, play with the balls, slides and everything. When we were there, Micah with her eyes wide, she was very excited to come in even though I have no pass yet. It was funny to see her that excited. As soon as they gave me our passes, she grabbed my hands and wanted me to bring her inside. And as I was expected, she enjoyed playing inside. She climbed and played with the balls and the slide. I could see in her eyes that she was really having a great time. And I have to admit that I also enjoyed that time. I enjoyed seeing her having a great time. It was fun to have some quality time with my daughter. She is truly a gift from God that I will treasure forever. She is really a bundle of joy to my wife and I. We really thank God for an opportunity to have a daughter like Micah. We are so blessed!

Family Day

I am still overwhelmed and very happy to see many people came to our church’s Family Day last June 12. I am very glad to see families having great quality time together. Parents are enjoying a warm swim with their children. It was a great scene to see from the families attending our church. Knowing, they have limited time and resources for them to escape from all their work and studies and to have a venue for them to relax and enjoy some family bonding was truly a success. What really touched my heart was the realization that we have a huge family. In our Worship Service every Sunday, we usually have around 30 people coming regularly. And in our Family Day, there were about a hundred people who came. This was a big enough crowd for us to need to rent a huge bus and a jeep and besides that we had a car and two family vans to transport all of us to a resort where we held our Family Day. What really amazed me is how God put us in our own family to bring our family to Christ. All of our members have connections to their families and that is a great potential to lead them to Christ. So I could say that the family we have right now in our church is growing. I am praising God for the opportunity to be with families in our church. It was truly a great time.

First day: We woke up early because our flight is on half past 7 in the morning, we need to be in the airport 2 hours before our flight and we need to travel 3 hours going to Clark airport. In short, we had only few hours of sleep. As we wait for our flight in the airport, we have seen the sun coming up and it was beautiful that for us it seems that God smiling at us. I took a picture of it. It was really beautiful. Just my camera was bad in taking great pictures like that. We waited for few hours and our flight number was called. As we went to the airplane and we took our seat and relax. We had just an hour and quarter to get there in Cebu International Airport. From there, 2 members of the church we are connected for our training, fetched us. They are lovely people and tours us around the city. There are many sights in the city that most of the foreigners go. They are, The Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro and Lapu-Lapu Shrine. We decided to see these places in just one day. The 2 members of the church a
re untiring tour us to these places. They are great people. Along our way to the tourist spots we visiting, Anne, our Training Department Director, shares her stories of God’s miracles in her life. She shared how according to His’ purpose on her life, God provided a way for her to be in different countries as she continues on bringing the youth from different churches to missions. She also mentioned that I was on the youth went to missions and now a missionary of International Teams Philippines. These two people were amazed and excited to be involved in what we are doing. They have heard that God is really faithful to those people willing to follow His’ will in sending missionaries though out the world. They keep on praising and praying to God that they are also want to be sent to other countries and share the gospel to many people. Anne gave them advised to seek the will of God to their lives. After the tour we went to one of the member’s house to sleep there for a night. We were all tired since we don’t have enough sleep. And we need to go to Alegria early in the morning to meet our contact for the training.

Family Outing

I won’t hide that my brothers and sisters have some issues with one another. Many times I have seen many arguing and heard many fights from them. It seems that they have grudge with another. It was hard for wife and I to see them like that. We are seeking God for His direction on how we will be able to stop them for being angry with another.

One day, God revealed to me that I should expend more time to be with them, and I know God is the one who gives me opportunity to be with them, help them in small way and somehow build stronger relationship with them.

I was reminded by the Bible to let the light within me shine. This will make my brothers and sisters witness how God changed me and how am I living according to his purpose. Before I spent a lot of time in church’s office, a lot of time having fellowship with my fellow workers and members of the church. But being away with my brothers and sisters was a fail in my part to be able to share them who God is in my life.

Since I realized how big part of my mission is to bring my brothers and sisters to the Lord, having a heart to help them to forgive each one, I have made my decision to spend a lot of time with them, but not regretting my work in church. And I see that God is the one who gives me opportunity to with them.

Just this month, we made a plan to go for a swim and most of us went and we had a great time. This is a testimony that we can be united, enjoying each one’s company, and hoping, in time, we can totally forgive one another.

Here are some of the pictures we took during the swimming party of my brothers and sisters. A reminder that they are also part of my ministry.

JKKCC 4th year Anniversary

As the introduction of Pastor Joshua’s preaching, there are many good significance of the number 4. First, he stated, we have four corners in the world, the east, the west, the north and the south. There also 4 kinds of season, the winter, the spring, the summer and the fall. And in the bible, in the fourth day, God made two great lights, the sun to light our world in the morning and the moon and the stars to light the night. It is somehow significant that God settle things in the fourth day of creation.

This was how Pastor Joshua started his message in our Jesus King of Kings Community Church 4th year Anniversary last February 26. And I agree to what he said about God setting things in His works. I truly and deeply believe that this year God will settle things in our church. This year is the double portion of God’s harvest for our church. We, leaders of our church pray that this year God will lead us into His’ vineyard and harvest souls for His’ glory. And we are expecting many great things from God will happen to our church. We will see great miracles unfolded as we keep and continue to serve Him in everyway we can, everywhere He leads and whatever it cost us. May God give us faith that moves mountain.

I am very happy to be part of what God is doing in our church. I am so thankful for being part of this church. Little but moving in the faith we have in Christ!

Here are some of tons pictures I took during the Anniversary Celebration:

Daycare Field Trip

It was a great pleasure for me to see the kids from Daycare enjoyed the 2-day field trip in Science Center, Cosmic Kids and Avilon Zoo! I am so thankful for being part of great experience of kids as I watched them playing. This is one of the greatest rewards I experienced for being part of this ministry.

In the morning on the first day of Field Trip, we brought kids to Science Center where they were amazed on how science affects our lives. They saw many science-made things like robot, computer games, etc. They also know kinds of earthquakes and electricity sources.

The tour guide is teaching us about kids of electric sources

In the afternoon we let them played in a game center full of balls. It is like a kingdom of different kinds of balls. I was happy to see them playing and running and having their good times with each other. I enjoyed seeing them being kids again, kids that they just having great time playing. It brought me missing my childhood days.

The second day, we brought them to Avilon Zoo. This is the largest zoo in the Philippines. It is quite far from our houses but it is worth traveling because of many animals you saw there. It was a great experience. Kids are over-excited to see animals of different kinds and sizes. I, myself was overwhelmed to see those animals. It is really worth seeing them and I love the thrill being close to nature.

Daycare Field Trip is fantastic! Not only I had time-off from my work, but I also have great time with kids!
